If you could have only one... 2021 Edition
Once a year or so, I re-visit the "if I could only have one" topic and try to reason my way through different choices.
Naturally, there are many different ways to set up these boundary conditions, so I will intentionally leave this somewhat vague.
I will do a livecast on this on Wednesday night (the two hour long Youtube/Facebook/Odysee livecast) with a general purpose discussion. That will be followed, over the next few days by several shorter livecasts here on Locals, where I can demonstrate the specific guns in question (if I happen to have one) or discuss why I do not have such a beast yet and what I a doing to rectify the situation.
In the meantime, I would really like to get your take on these same questions:
1) If you could have only one rifle, what would it be? Action type? Chambering? How would it be set up? Barrel type and length? Optics?
2) If you could only have one handgun, what would it be?
3) If you could have only one shotgun, what would it be?
Feel free to specify what kind of situation you are considering in this case.
For example, for dedicated preppers, this would a case study of civilizational collapse.
For a guy who is fed up with all the bullshit and who plans to buy a few thousand acres of land in the middle of nowhere and head there with his conversion one and limited cargo space, it is something else.
It can be something as benign as simply pairing down your lifestyle. What gun would you keep?
Hell, once in a while I wonder if I should just sell everything off, keep one gun per family member, use the generated funds to buy several pallets of relevant ammo and be done with it. Then, I wake up from this hellish nightmare, go hug my gunsafe(s) and go back to sleep with a smile on my face.
