One of the topics I have been meaning to re-visit is the subject of tweener riflescopes. I am not sure who coined the term but I have been using it for quite some years.
I wrote an article on that quite a few years ago where I was lamenting how few of these scopes are out there:

The situation has not improved with time. I need to revisit in some detail, but the best tweener scope of recent years was the Vortex Razor HD LH 1.5-8x32 and I happen to have two of them. One sits on my 300WSM takedown levergun and another is on a 458SOCOM AR, but I am about to set it up as a spare for the levergun.
The scope has been, unfortunately, discontinued, but they are still popping up here and there. I was just alerted that they are, for the moment, available at Europtic at a pretty steep discount compared to th eoriginal price:

If you are looking for a compact and lightweight hunting scope, this is a really excellent option and I do not know for how long they will still have them. I am thinking of picking up one more while I am at it.
The way the whole tweener scope situation goes right now, is that you really have three good options: Swarovski Z3 3-9x36, Leupold VX-3HD 2.5-8x36, SWFA SS Ultralight 2.5-10x32 and this Razor HD LH 1.5-8x32. There are a couple of others from decent makers, but I think these are the best in the category.
At $430 that Europtic want for it right now, the 1.5-8x32 HD LH is an absolute steal and easily the best bang for the buck out of the bunch.
