6 ARC MiniFix is Finally All Put Together
instead of being scattered all over my work bench in pieces.
It is a relatively standard MiniFix, kinda like this one https://alnk.to/dLiRqZ8 except it has a 16" Proof Research CF barrel (that Bud's price for a MiniFix, of any flavor, is the lowest I have seen in a long while).
Initial indication are that it is capable of excellent accuracy.
16" barrel is launching 108gr ELD-M Hornady factory ammo at an average of 2579fps with 32fps spread and 8.6fps StDev.
That is nicely supersonic at 1000yards at the density altitude up here (around 6k in the winter and a good bit more than that in the summer).
After a little deliberation, I decided to pop Telson's new 3-18x50 Toxin on this gun. The magnification range is a good match for the cartridge and I needed a platform to test this scope anyway. Eventually, it will likely get a 3-15x50 Tangent.
Now that I think about, I have three Fixes and three Tangents. Will it be "Tangenting the Fixes"? or "Fixing Up the Tangents"?
As shown in the pictures, the rifle weighs almost exactly 10lbs altogether (with Telson scope, Jumbo Shrimp suppressor and Gunwerks bipod).
The Telson scope is acquitting itself rather well so far. Image quality looks very good and a little better than I have seen from this JOL design before. Perhaps, they made some improvements.
Tracking is spot on both on the rifle and on the collimator, but I have only tested it through the single 10 mrad turn.
As is with the Integrix, I am not happy about the rather large windage turret. It is a nice exposed turret, but I would have preferred something lower profile, but for my use it is not a big deal.
The reticle (obviously), I like quite a lot. Image quality is very consistent across the board. Comparins it side by side with the 3-18x44 Integrix, Telson edges it out slightly between 15x and 18x. On lower powers, it is pretty close with Integrix having a somewhat more contrasty image.
Generally, with these two scopes entering the market around the same time (and with Leupodl Mark 4HD 4.5-18x52 being introduced last year), the ~$1500 to $2000 crossover market is all of a sudden looking very. interesting
