Continuing with the various deals and discounts that land in my inbox.
FoldAR is continuing to rather heavily discount their uppers. They are now available for $1000 each https://alnk.to/3ybWHIo
In addition to that, for the duration of September, "BLACKOUTSEP" code gives you 12.5 300Blackout barrel system https://alnk.to/dAn8Cha for $500 if you buy a 16" 223 upper.
My FoldAR is one of the first ones they made, well before they switched to a quick change barrel system, so it does not do much for me. Still tempting though.
I did recently upgrade my FoldAR to a different locking claw and lever, so that I would not need a tool to fold the rifle. Naturally, as I was doing that, the hinge pin went flying. It is still somewhere in my work shop I am sure. That was very annoying, but it gave me a chance to test FoldAR's customer service. They do not know me from Adam, so I doubt my experience was atypical. They were very responsive and had a replacement pin to me in a couple of days at no charge.
On the Brownells side of things, they have a few discount codes going: SEPT20 for $20 off an order that is $200+, SEPT55 for $55 off orders over $500 and SEPT125 for $125 off of an order over $1000. Naturally, there is a bunch of different exceptions, so tread cautiously.
I decided to test if it work on their Retro scope just to find out that it is now called Colt Retro Optic: https://alnk.to/87ZEd5L
I have this 4x20 scope on my Retro AR build (attached) and it is surprisingly capable for such a historic design. Then again, the even older PU scope on my Mosin is also much better than iron sights.
The retro optic, by the way, does work with the discount coupon.
With the other coupe of things I was looking at: Law Tactical folding mechanism https://alnk.to/9buc6ax and BRN-180 upper https://alnk.to/2uHoPc5, it is 50/50. The BRN-180 works with the discount code, but Law Tactical stuff does not.
I keep on wanting to do a folding rifle experiment between FoldAR (fold in half rifle), folding stock AK and folding stock AR with a LAW tactical adapter to see what I like the most and where the compromises are. I had a Law folding hinge somewhere here, but I can't find it.
