The subject of these scopes came up on the Hide and it appears that a few people there who have them are happy. I have three at this stage. Two are fairly recent, but one has been here for a while. Somewhat unusually for people with a shiny object syndrome (like yours truly), I think I like these scopes more now than I did initially.
These are largely Japanese scopes, mostly made by LOW. Final assembly is done in Canada and some of the design elements on the inside are also different from LOW scopes per the insistence from the good folks at Armament (essentially the optomechanical people behind Tangent scopes had a hand in SAI design since it is the same company).
None of this is really new, but the reason I am bringing SAI6 up again is that I was looking for something else on Opticsplanet and stumbled onto a 9% discount on SAI6. https://shrsl.com/4gilz
That saves about $100 off of the regular price taking it to just below $1200.
The original scope I have came with their 5.56 BDC reticle. The other two I have came with mrad reticles. I do not have the one with the 7.62 reticle, but looking at the dimensions, it should work well with the 77gr 5.56 load.
The 5.56 reticle is designed for the 62gr SS109 or similar. I am not a BDC guy, so I somewhat prefer the mrad reticles. SAI6 with mrad reticle without the X-wing (Rapid Aiming Feature) is going onto my 458SOCOM. The one with the RAF, is destined for a 6.5Grendel hunting rifle that I often use with a clip-on. The 5.56 BDC has been my backup scope for a little while, but I am sure I will find an upper for it.
I keep on shooting with a lot of different LPVOs and for a general purpose use, I keep on coming back to this one. It is a lot of scope for the money and the whole package is more than the some of its parts.
