As promised, I am continuing my exploration and cataloguing of different scope mounts out there. Next on my list is the new mount from Area 419.
I fished it out of the mail when I got home, set up a Delta Javelin 4.5-30x56 scope I need to finish testing and spent some time looking over it.
The short version: I wish there was a little more forward offset for use on ARs. Aside from that, I have not found anything to complain about yet.
The slightly longer version: the diving board mounting is extremely clever and robust. Rail clamp is just right. Ring stiffness is right on the money. There are plenty of additional accessory mounting points. The mount I have has a diving board and level. The level is sized so that I can actually see it.
Everything is executed exceptionally well.
This is the most impressed I have been with a mount in quite a long time.
I'll spend some more time with it to be certain, but it is looking really good so far. I do not like the price very much. $330 is a good amount of money for a mount. However, it seems to be about the ballpark for several modern designs.
Most impressively, all of that is done without unnecessary weight. It is a much sleeker execution than the M-Brace with a diving board, for example. I have that one here as well and after I publish the review, the M-Brace is going to be listed for sale (along with a Griffin SPRM) and I'll likely pick up another Area 419 mount or two.
@LinkLQChen Thank You for bringing this mount to my attention!
