I figured out that if I try to sit and work, I fall asleep. Jetlag is a bitch.
With that in mind, I went through the boxes that arrived while I was in Israel and pulled out two new Delta Stryker scope.
This is a very nice way to round out the Stryker lineup.
Until now, Stryker, Delta's highest end Japanese-manufactured product line has consisted of three scopes: 4.5-30x56 FFP, 5-50x56 SFP, 1-6x24 SFP
Now, 1-10x28 FFP and 3.5-21x44 FFP are rounding it out.
The end result is one of the more complete mid/high range riflescope line-ups we have that is also a little different from the competition thanks to the side-focus on the 1-10x and thanks to the 44mm objective on the 3.5-21x.
I really wanted to see these in person because I was curious how the reticle look in real life. In the interest of full disclaimer, I did not design these reticle, but I was consulted on them. That basically means they had a few versions drawn up and they asked me which one I prefer and why.
This happens fairly frequently with companies I do occasional consulting for. They have some sort of an internal disagreement, so they reach out to some outside SME, ask for advice and then completely ignore it. In this case, they actually went with my recommendations and I am quite happy with how these look in real life.
I'll mount then on rifles and take some pictures.
In the meantime, all the knobs turn as they should. Click feel is quite nice. There are no obvious manufacturing issues with mechanics or optics.
Reticle illumination looks to be appropriately sorted out.
At first glance, either I am completely losing my touch or Delta should do really well with these.
One nice touch is that the parallax turret on the 1-10x has a slight detent on 100meter setting. That is a very good idea since you can return to a general purpose setting by touch.
I have been trying to figure out what scope I should take for my pronghorn hunt in October and I think the 3.5-21x Stryker might be it, sitting on the 308Win Fix. Tract 2.5-15x44 will end up on the 8.6 Blackout Fix and go elk hunting with me in November.
The 1-10x Stryker unsurprisingly, is going to land an SPR-ish AR-15. I just need to figure out which one. I am also running out of mounts, so I need to see what I want to use for these scopes.
Stay tuned.
