Where is the sweetspot? What are you looking for?
One of the upcoming livestreams I want to do will talk about the sweetspot of price and performance.
That is one of the reasons I wanted to see these Delta and Tract scopes earlier than later.
Generally, I'll do a livestream version of my recommendations and "bang for the buck" discussion is a big part of it.
This new generation of Delta Stryker scopes is right around $2k.
The two new Tract scopes I have are $1k and $1.5k.
PA PLxC LPVO is $1.5k
Burris XTR Pro is a bit over $2k.
Burris XTR3i is a bit over $1k.
There are others.
It looks like these are the price ranges where we are getting good quality mostly Japanese riflescopes without having to give up on the feature set: they are FFP, with modern illuminated reticles, repeatable turrets (likely, but I'll be checking all that), locking or covered windage turrets, respectable eyebox, etc.
I also have a good collection of the fanciest scopes ever made on hand and I know that they are better than the ones in the "sweet spot", but there are definitely diminishing returns in play here.
This question of "where is the sweet spot" is something I like to re-visit every year or two just to see how it shifts.
An important part of it is a discussion of what we are looking for in any given riflescope type.
I know what I want to see in all of these. That's going to be a part of the discussion, since I want you to understand not only what I want to see, but also why.
What do you want to see?
In an LPVO?
In an MPVO?
In a hunting scope?
In a crossover scope?
In a precision scope?
Tell me what you are looking for.
