Tract 2.5-15x44 and 4-25x50 scopes are here
Since sleep is apparently optional, I started looking at the new Tract scopes. I have not had too much time with them and both are looking pretty good. Still, I am starting with the 2.5-15x44 since I want to use it during this year's hunting season.
It also does not hurt that I already have the non-illuminated 2.5-15x44. Since they are identical optically and nearly identically mechanically, this is going to be a pretty easy review. That is also why I started by looking at how the reticle illumination is executed.
It is executed nearly perfectly. It goes very dim, so it will not ruin your eye's night adaptation.
Only the thin lines are illuminated.
Even without illumination, the reticle has good visibility.
Optically, it is a nice scope and really impressive given it is under $1k.
Honestly, this is what the next generation LRHS/LRTS should have been. It is a near perfect magnification range for general purpose hunting almost anywhere. It is not a light scope, but not super heavy either.
It is a bit shorter than LRHS2, similar in weight, has illumination, a more useful magnification range and closer focus. It costs about the same.

Easily one of the best general purpose hunting scopes on the market today.
