Last year, after giving it a significant amount of thought, selecting an optic of the year, given my personal proclivities, was comparatively straightforward. I went with Vortex Razor HD-LHT 4.5-22x50 simply because of how much it offered in how light of a package:

There were very strong contenders though.
This time around, I am really truly conflicted. There are two that, I think, deserve this and I and I have a really hard time deciding which one deserves the nod.
Still, in the end there can be only one, so I thought I would offer it to you as a poll.
Vortex Razor Gen3 6-36x56 re-defined what kind of a precision scope you can get for $3k.
Primary Arms PLxC 1-8x24 re-defined what kind of an LPVO you can get for $1.5k.
There were other noteworthy optics introduced during 2022. I really liked Steiner S35 thermal.
Element Titan 3-18x50, to me, has become the de-facto king of ELR rimfire in the sub-$1k range.
The world of red dot sights has been relatively quiet. Technically Shield AMS has been announced in 2022, but it is not yet available, so it should be in the running in 2023.
Burris XTR Pro was supposed to be a contended this year... had I been able to get my hands on one.
There have been some interesting prismatics out there, but nothing revolutionary introduced in 2022.
March announced the dual focal plane 1.5-15x42, and it will be a contender next year when it ships.
It was a quiet year for LRFs and LRF equipped binoculars.
Between these two very different scopes, which one do you think is more significant?
