I am not entirely sure why various gun and accessory companies celebrate Mother's Day by offering discounts on things that would be more applicable on Father's Day (yes, very chauvinistic of me), but they do. PA has their sale valid until Sunday.
To be fair, I get e-mails from all of them and normally ignore them all. However, $700 for a nice BCM upper is a pretty good price, so I figured I should put it up here: https://bit.ly/3LZj51i
Another one that caught my eye was a discounted Geisselle G2S trigger with a free Magpul CTR stock for $165. https://bit.ly/38Y6OeS
Given that the CTR stock is around $55-$60 bucks on its own, this gets you a G2S trigger for a hair over a $100.
If I was building an AR, right now, I'd pick up that BCM upper and the trigger stock combination.
For the rest of the parts, any normal milspec stripped lower and LPK will work just fine.
PA's has Aero's stripped lower also on sale for around $80: https://bit.ly/37ndTFj. However, if I were doing it, I'd step up to a lower with an integrated trigger guard, like Aero's M4E1. They have some cosmetic blems. Since all my guns are abused and scratched up anyway, I am perfectly happy buying cosmetically blemished parts when available: https://bit.ly/3vPzrDK
Or, for $200, you can just get an already built up M4E1 lower without a stock: https://bit.ly/3kQEzkV.
Then swap in the Geisselle trigger from above. Slide the CTR stock on and you are off to the races.
Baically, what you end up with is high quality AR with all the important stuff being from BCM, Geisselle and Aero, for about $1100, depending on how much your local FFL will charge you for a transfer.
That is a very very good deal if you are looking to do an AR with very minimal work done by yourself.
The remaining thing to swap out would probably be the grip and there I am slowly switching all of my stuff to the Stoner grip from REV Firearms. I like that thing enough that I am actually considering making a DLO branded version of that grip. It is not going to be a cheap grip, but it is the best I have tried to date. If you think you'd be interested in an AR grip with my logo, let me know, and I'll get the ball rolling.
